Bowling Green State University seeks applicants for Chair of the
Department of Ethnic Studies beginning July 1997. Qualifications include
an earned Ph.D, demonstrated knowledge of comparative ethnic and racial
studies, a national reputation as an established scholar, and a
distinguished publication record consistent with the rank of full
professor. Area of specialization is open. Candidates should have the
intellectual vision, commitment and energy to strengthen an existing
interdisiplinary undergraduate program and an interest in developing an
interdisiplinary graduate program of academic excellence. Successful
applicant expected to develop internship and other outreach activities and
provide continuing support for cultural diversity requirement. Must have
positive, collaborative leadership style for a unit of five regular
faculty and proven ability to work effectively with others to manage
competing priorities. Previous administrative experience highly
