Query from a student of mine: Does anyone know of any indigenous
language(s) (variously defined; anywhere) in which the "historical novel"
or "historical short story" --that is, fictional reconstructions of past
individual lives in the context of known events/facts-- exists or is
beginning to take shape as a genre?

I'll summarize to the list if I get any responses.
