Where the Indian languages are concerned there are efforts going on all
over the two continents of the Americas. The quickest place to start would
be among the Navajos in Arizona. Where the Eskimos are concerned the
Inupiaq and Yupik of Alaska and Russia, the Inuit of Canada and the
Kalaallit have held several Circumpolar Conferences (In Point Barrow, Ak.,
Nuuk, Gr. and Quebe, QC) in which the question of modernizing the language
and the means of communication were discussed. To check with Edna Agiaq
McLean or others at the Alaska Native Language Center, UofA, Fairbanks. At
the last Circumpolar Conference there were papers on Terminology read by
particiapants from the four countries. It would help the work if they
would communicate between themselves via bitnet.DirmidOn Tue, 15 Feb 1994
