I remember one of the songs Nanabushu sings to the [waterfowl--
in the version I heard they were ducks] while they were dancing:
"Gego inaabiikegon, gego inaabiikegon, giigaamamishkoshkiinjigwen
inaabiiyeg..."
(Don't peek! Don't peek! You'll have red eyes if you peek!)
I got this particular version from the liner notes to a record put out
by the Minnesota Historical Society; I'm doing this by memory so
I'm not sure if it's right. If you take it metaphorically it could
apply to all kinds of things!!!
