To Subscribers of the NativeNet lists NATIVE-L, NATCHAT, NAT-LANG, NAT-EDU
and NAT-HLTH:

The hardware problems I reported yesterday have been repaired, and the lists
will soon be back in operation. You can once again submit articles to these
lists using their regular posting addresses:

native-l@gnosys.svle.ma.us
natchat@gnosys.svle.ma.us
nat-lang@gnosys.svle.ma.us
nat-edu@gnosys.svle.ma.us
nat-hlth@gnosys.svle.ma.us

I once again find myself needing to think more seriously about asking for
help in keeping things running, since I have to turn my attention to other
matters, and because the technical operation of the lists requires so much
time and energy. I hope to send out an article within the next few weeks
that indicates areas where people might be able to help, and that talks
about some new directions in which I feel we could move to help us take
better advantage of this communications technology.

Also, I would like to indicate that it may be necessary to limit the amount
of material that is sent out each day, since people only have so much time
to read the material and because there are limitations on the amount of mail
which some people can receive before their mailboxes overflow. I'm not quite
sure how to best handle things, but I'll be thinking about it all and maybe
coming back to you, the subscribers, for suggestions.

For some time, I've been hoping to conduct an informal survey to get a better
idea of what people want most from these lists. I hope to have something
ready to send out soon on this subject.

I hope to be able to keep this machine chugging along long enough to migrate
to a newer machine that might be less likely to have the kind of problem that
has arisen a number of times over the past few years which has caused us to
be down for days at a time.

More later.

Gary
