Good News - it will be up for a week or two longer
ANNOUNCING NativeVoices Online in Tulsa, Oklahoma 918/660-0677
This is an online service (BBS) focused on American Indian languages. It has an
Internet UUCP gateway for e-mail and newsgroups. Provides a graphical interface
for Macintosh and Windows enviroments and a text interface for DOS and other
VT-100 callers.
Bad News - it will be down for an undetermined length of time (weeks, months)
It's currently funded by one person (Al Webster, computer consultant) who can no
longer afford to do so on his own. He is looking for support from the Indian
community in Tulsa, around Oklahoma and in the Internet community.
Al's temporary plan is to merge the services available on NativeVoices Online
with the BBS for the Macintosh users group in Tulsa (TUMS). That way,
essentially the same services (conferences, newsgroups, sound files) will be
available, just not a dedicated system for Indian languages for a while.
If you would like to help Indian tribes & nations in Oklahoma preserve and
maintain their languages; if you are interested in helping NativeVoices Online
provide Internet access for Indian people in Oklahoma, then e-mail one or more
of the following people as soon as possible (this week):
