The tapes are (mostly) not conversations as such, though the
basic set does contain one dialog. The tapes consist of a native
speaker pronouncing the words and phrases in the book, and using
them in sentences so they can be heard in context. It's sort of
grammar-based, but by example; they give several examples of each
pattern in use and you learn the pattern from the examples (instead
of from a rule). It starts as words and short sentences (but it
DOES start out with one fairly good-sized paragraph so you can get
an idea of the overall sound of the language before taking on details);
in the Advanced set the sentences get gradually longer so by the end
it's pretty complicated stuff.
Is that helpful?
