Hi,
I've just picked up a book that was recommended to me by a Cherokee woman
at a powwow that I recently attended. If you can get past the title, it's
a good book for a beginner. The title of the book is "How To Talk Trash
In Cherokee", English by Don Grooms, Cherokee by John Oocumma.
By "talk trash" they mean learning some common words and phrases, how to ask
some basic questions, etc. I've found it to be very useful. It's a primer
that teaches by using humor, and it's full of amusing stuff (one chapter is
entitled "How To Pick A Fight In Cherokee", and teaches you how to say,
"I'm sorry you broke your hand on me").
Write to:

Enjoy!
