You're right, Esperanto does *look* very European, because its
initiator wanted it to appeal to Europeans. Pretty well all the
roots have come in from European languages as well, even when
their origin is non-European.
On the other hand, it doesn't always behave in very European
ways. You can't say "Ghi tro latinas miaguste" in a European
language (that's "It too-much latin-VERB my-taste-ADVERB"),
although it would be a normal colloquial way of expressing
your comment in Esperanto.
