PALM proposes to use the NAT-LANG list to exchange information in the
first instance. Later a separate list may be created and possibly a
hard-copy newsletter produced, particularly to include those in the
region without easy access to e-mail.
The target region includes Australia, Eastern Indonesia, Papua New
Guinea, Vanuatu, Aotearoa (New Zealand) and other Pacific nations
including Hawai'i. It is expected that speakers of indigenous
languages in the region, linguists working on endangered languages,
and people involved with educational and language maintenance programs
will take part, but the network is open to all with an interest,
including people outside the region.
Messages should be sent to NAT-LANG in the normal way. The Subject
line can be used to indicate that the posting is relevant to PALM:
just include the acronym PALM in the subject header. Enquiries about
communications should go to the NAT-LANG moderator Gary Trujillo
<gst@gnosys.svle.ma.us> as usual.
As a start, we invite you to register your interest in this network by
posting a message on NAT-LANG, including a mailing address and fax
number. Send to the usual NAT-LANG posting e-addresses
<nat-lang@gnosys.svle.ma.us> or <nat-lang@tamvm1.tamu.edu>.
