I-40 goes through Northern Arizona just out of the city of Flagstaff which
is about 7,000 feet elevation; and YES, the snow can get deep! I'm
talking feet! It is still early in the season, but it has already snowed
up there at least once--in October. So, please keep a check on the
National Weather news along the route. I live in Southern Arizona in Phoenix.
You will have a beautiful trip, however. Tall pines and mountains. The
Grand Canyon is just out of Flagstaff, if you have time, and Meteor Crater
is just off of I-40. Watch for the signs. Also close is the Painted
Desert and the Petrified Forest. Lowell Observatory is on Mars Hill just
out of Flag. Flagstaff is a good place to "put up" for the night if you
need to.
Safe and profitable trip to you.
