This past semester I took a class on Women's Literature, and I am trying
to find some information for my professor. Included in the anthology we
used was "Lullaby," a short story by Leslie Silko. The main character,
Ayah, is a Navajo woman. We are trying to find out what her name means,
if anything, to understand if it has any significance to the story. Is
there anyone with knowledge of the Navajo language that can help with
this? Though this story was not included on the syllabus next semester,
my instructor wants to use it when she teaches the course again next
fall. Thanks in advance for your help.
