Dear Alice,
Are you teaching children or adults, first or second language, reading,
writing, speaking, understanding? Are the lessons for teachers to work
from or for students to use on their own?
Without answers to at least those questions, I couldn't be very helpful
with specific lessons so would just say to look around at how people in
your community are using numbers in their everyday lives and design your
lessons so that learners will be able to use numbers for the same
purposes in the language you are teaching.
If you want to reply to me with some specifics about your learning
situation, I'll help with more specific lesson possibilities.
This reminds me that I have heard that multilingual speakers "always"
compute using the number names they learned first. Any comments on
this?
