Hi, I wasn't part of the earlier conversation on the word
'nagila'. However, I feel I should respond.
Nagila has meaning in Lakhota, depends on the context.

Nagi-spirit, a persons shadow.
La-is diminutive.
Nagila-'a little spirit' or it can also mean some small persons
shadow. It depends on the context.

Hope I was helpful to someone!

Violet Catches, Lakhota

Comments from NativeNet listowner, Gary Trujillo (gst@gnosys.svle.ma.us):

OK. No more on this subject - the important thing is that there are bound
to be words from various languages that have similar or identical words
which mean different things. There seems no point in cataloguing such words.
