The South and Mesoamerican Indian Information Center would like to
remind people dealing with the 500 Years and Quincentenary "celebrations"
that the Intercontinental Indian and Popular organizations ask
individuals to REFLECT on two concepts: COMMEMORATION and CELEBRATION.
South and Mesoamerican Indian people do not have much to celebrate.
We have found similar feelings with brothers and sisters in the NorthAmerican
Continent. 500 years is a time for reflection. Greetings, SAIIC.
[ In order to coordinate better with the IGC conferencing system, and to
make it easier later to retrieve articles by subject from the LISTSERV
archive, I will be labelling articles dealing with the Quincentenary
under a series of subject headings:
Quincentenary: database efforts to create & maintain database
Quincentenary: education educational plans & programs
Quincentenary: events Quincentenary events announcements
Quincentenary: info general Quincentenary information
Quincentenary: organizations info re orgs working on Quincentenary
Quincentenary: projects specific projects
etc.
You can use these subject indicators in articles you post to the
"gen.nativenet@gnosys.svle.ma.us" address, or I'll do it for you.
