40-Hour Rice Fast to help Penan?

40-hour rice fast to help the Penan people.

I had a chat with Dean Jefferys on his return from Sarawak and
he tells me that the blockaders have no food. When they do
have food all they eat is rice, now that their hunting grounds
have been largely destroyed.

What do you think about the idea of organising a 40-hour rice
fast to raise funds to help them buy food? The idea is simply
that participants would eat almost exactly the same amount of
rice as being eaten by those on the blockade. The difference
in the cost between the rice and the normal purchases of food
by participants would then be donated to the Penan people.

If you find the idea acceptable I may be able to convince one
or two organisers that it would be worthwhile putting it
together. Obviously we would need some lead time to maximise
the result.

Please let me know what you think about it.
