hi,

i'm particularly interested in the mining and milling of uranium and how it
effects indigenous peoples.

an area that i'm concentrating on is the colorado plateau, especially in the
grants region of new mexico.

are any of you networkers active in the legal cases from this exploitation?
if so, can you pass some information on to me? currently i'm hoping to learn
more about the incident at the rio puercos in 1979 when 91 million tons of
radioactive tailings spilled into the river basin-- causing enormous psycho-
logical, ecological, and economic damage to the peoples of the area.

i've read numerous reports, especially from congressional hearings, but have
little sense of how this radioactive trauma affected the peoples' health.

thanks for your time, pete shemitz
