In the recent exchange about the nature of science, I think it has been
overlooked that even some "European" scientists are aware of the problems
of how science is applied. While they do not usually phrase their concerns
in terms of spirituality (even though this would add another dimension),
they do raise concerns of the value-laden nature of science. It is ludicrous
to claim as a scientist that you are only "doing science" when you accept
monies to study problems of interest to funding agencies. Conscious or not,
the selection of problems worthy of study (i.e., funding) is definitely
shaped by the process.

Anyway, there are definite limitations to science that are well-known, if
ignored by those wanting to "use" science to further their own agendas. Just
another thought from the wilderness.
