Algonquin Nations?

My brother called me in the middle of the night from California asking me if
there weren't 5 Algonquin Nations and if so which tribes were involved? I
didn't know and now that I am awake, I still don't know. I am familiar with
the 6 tribes of the Iroquois Nation but I am not sure what my brother is
referring to. Here in Michigan we have the People of the 3 Fires but I am at
a loss to help him. Can someone help me? Thanks.
