Re: extinction discussion--my feelings exactly. If you knew the people
who are saying "extinctions occur all the time" and are using this
argument to support destruction of wild areas, you would be appalled.
Science to me is a refined and potentially elegant frm of speculation,
and becomes a monster when used incorrectly to support political ends.

Re: greenpeace: I am in pursuit of a more detailed explanation, but
it is important to realize that the campaign that earned the enmity
of some Native Americans ended years ago, approximately in 1984, when
some of the more eager animal rights people in the organization in
the UK left Greenpeace because the organnization did NOT support
efforts that might curtail the rights of indigenous peoples. Since
then, greenepace has worked with indigenous peoples on turtle,
Alaska and related issues, and is now putting together a joint
effort with native americans around Brazil 1992.
