Something that came to mind when thinking about the ad and discussing it, was
that maybe the commercial wanted to present the fact that the audio system of
the Lexus is SO accurate and real-sounding that the Rain Gods could not tell
that the song was coming from an audio system --hence the rain storm which the
commercial ends with. This scenario, if indeed it is what the advertiser
intended to communicate, could lead to connotations about Rain Gods, Native
Americans which might not be positive. It would be very interesting to get a
first hand explanation from Lexus and their advertising company as to what
their target was. Comments?
