lengthy mailings

Nobody reads anything that is over twenty lines long. I have noticed
that my eyes tend to home in on the field which reports the total number
of lines in each of the E-mail messages that I receive. When I see that
a message exceeds twenty lines or so, I go away and do something else
until the message has stopped scrolling. When I return to my terminal,
I skim the LAST 20 lines or so of the message -- and then I decide whether
or not to delete the message. In the interest of the continued efficiency
of this system, would it not be preferable for those individuals who have
vast quantities of material to share for them to disseminate a VERY brief
synopsis of what it is they have, and allow those interested quest it
directly ?
I just don't have time to deal with 500 line messages!
There must be a better way!
