THE NATIVE AMERICAN RESEARCH INFORMATION SERVICE (NARIS)
The NARIS database (approximately 12,000 published and unpublished Native
American articles dating from 1969 to 1991) is housed in the American Indian
Institute at the University of Oklahoma. NARIS provides literature searches
at no charge to PL 93-638 tribes and IHS facilities through a grant from
the Indian Health Service. Other researchers may use NARIS and obtain
research information upon request at a cost of 10 cents (.10) per abstract,
and 5 cents (.05) per bibliographic citation, payable upon receipt to the
University of Oklahoma.
The American Indian Institute is a division of Public and Community Services
of Continuing Education at the University of Oklahoma.

[ I believe it was Duane I met last Wednesday in Washington, D.C. at a
meeting sponsored by the National Center for Native American Studies
and Indian Policy Development at George Washington University. I
picked up a brochure on NARIS, in fact. It looks very professional.
