[ This will be the second time some NativeNet subscribers have seen this
article. The NATIVE-L portion of the list did not receive it, due to
a network problem, so I am resending it to NATIVE-L, to which most sub-
scribers have now been transferred, for reasons which will soon be ex-
plained in an article which I hope to send soon. --Gary ]

Hi. I'm new on this network, so I don't know what has been discussed recently
I'm working on a long-term project dealing with Native American spiritu-
ality. Right now I 'd like people's opinions and any sources of informa-
tion you might have dealing with the following topics:

1) how to tell if a native American spiritual leader is "legit"
2) reasons why people with no nativ American ancestry turn to N.A. spiritu-
ality...what it provides...how it fits in/or doesn't fit in with their
life, etc.
3) people's opinions about "mixing traditions" in the practice of
spirituality
4) and LAST of all (for now) what the "rules" are--and if there aren't
any, then how do you determine it's "correct" or "right" or "traditional"

I'll be looking forward to opening up dialogues with people about this.
I read the Lakota Times series this summer. I really want to know what
everyday people involved in this and with these issues think about it.

Thanks.
