Given Gary's comment today that this conference is for native peoples
from all over the world, I wanted to call people's attention to the
ongoing massacres by the Indonesian Army of the Maubere people of East
Timor. In addition to the well-publicized mass shooting into a memorial
service on November 12 (killing 60-150 people), there were other mass
killings on November 15, 17, and 18, and perhaps more that we don't yet
know about. Since Indonesia invaded East Timor in 1975, they have killed
200,000 of the country's 700,000 people
