I am looking for information on recent cases of DDT use in the Third
World. There is a plan to use 40 tons of DDT, "Abate and Tenefor"(?)
in the Bolivian Amazon. Various Indigenous groups inhabit that area
and yellow fever seems to be on the rise. The reason given is that
DDT costs "only US$ 3.00, and it be used to fumigate homes and
surroundings because it [DDT] DOES NOT CAUSE PROBLEMS ON THE
ENVIRONMENT." This information was extracted from a Bolivian
newspaper. Indigenous groups in that area are asking to help
providing information on the impact of DDT on human lives.
Thank you,
Guillermo
