I know exactly how you feel, Gary -- I used to be sole owner of GAELIC-L.
Now there are three of us, with other people helping out. It's much more
fun, less of a strain, more of a family firm operation, in which no one
person gets stuck with all the washing up. I know that NATIVE-L is a very
serious business -- most of us on the net are either heavily involved in
or supportive of some kind of cultural or human survival movement -- but
because of the time of year it is (THANKSGIVING) I'd like to introduce a
note of light relief in response to Gary's plea for help:
"We love you, Gary! If we were both free I'd marry you myself!"
I needed to say that! But since that is out of the question, let's see
if we can find a suitable partner (or partners) for Gary S. Trujillo. My
advice (born of long, hard experience) is that we choose someone with
the following qualifications (for "she" read "he" as appropriate):
*** He is publicity-shy. May seem strange in a list owner -- but
beware of the man who says he has nothing to hide. You may be
that he has, and that it is something so awful it shouldn't
find an echo outside of fantasy fiction.
*** She loves herself enough that it doesn't show. If she has to
keep proving to herself that she loves herself, then it's clear
she really doesn't like herself at all (so why should you?)
*** He's got personality. Deadly efficiency can (best) be hired by
the hour. Great personality can not.
*** She's happy to celebrate the small miracles that happen now and
then -- on the net and in your joint lives and separate ones.
*** He's got someone to cuddle -- a lover, a friend drunk or sober,
a smelly dog or a cat, or even his old mother. If he really
prefers cars or or stuffed toys, expect other analities.
*** She's got heart -- cries (but not a lot) laughs (but not so much
that it bothers people at other tables).
So how to tell all this by e-mail? I dont know, but you can. Thank God I
I have been lucky so far. I wish Gary S. the same joy in his partnerships
as I have. Now let somebody on NATIVE-L who is willing to help out send
(privately) to Gary S. Trujillo, so that some of the oppressed peoples in
whose interests he is running this great information service (those for
whom this will not be a happy Thanksgiving) may have some real cause for
celebration a year from today.

PS. Am copying this msg to G-L, as I haven't time to compose a separate
Thanksgiving msg. Hope this will prove suitable. M.

[ Well, all I can say is thanks so very much to Marion and all of you who
have expressed, either publicly or privately, your support and good
wishes - since that's what really makes it all worthwhile! I too lament
the fact that Marion is not free :-), but I'm delighted by her coy com-
pliments, and am cheered by the smile she has brought to my sometimes
dour countenance. When I give thanks, Marion and all her clan will be
in my prayers! --Gary ]
