A colleague of mine at the Far West Laboratory for Educational R&D is
interested in any ideas on how a Native American community retains its
cultural identity (viz., cooperative life style) while creating self-
sufficiency--a sense in each individual that s/he has a bright future.

She is developing an argument that the cultures of ethnic minority
communities contain the very factors proven to build resiliency in human
beings. From this developed position she will write materials for
prevention practitioners, while other Lab persons use the information in
training and technical assistance activities.

Please contact Bonnie Benard at the following address/number with your
comments and so on:

Incidentally, Bonnie has written some powerful materials on resiliency
and multiculturalism which synthesize research findings into pragmatic
recommendations for action! Ask her about them!!
