Aloha Hawaii

I'm a Cherokee who's listened very intently to the voices on NativeNet,
some with joy and some with sadness. I've made some friends and I've come
to know many of you who have no idea that I'm even out here.

Jan. 1 is my departure date for moving to Honolulu. I would very much
appreciate any contacts with good people since I know no one there. I
hesitate to discuss that I am an archaeologist because there are so many
issues that have been badly handled by this group but that was one of
my reasons for becoming one. I hope that I have served to raise a certain
amount of awareness of Indians, in general, and I have worked from the
inside to change the elements that I complain about, i.e., insensitivity,
lack of compromise, clash of cultures, etc. I expect to find the same sort
of problems facing native Hawaiians that we face here on the mainland. I
hope that I can be of service and not be part of the problem.

With that out of the way, I wish you all good fortune and good spirits
until I find a way to rejoin the family. Charlotte Heya Watrin
