Here's what this month's _'GBH_ magazine says about it:
"Spirits of the Present: The Legacy from Native America" is the
first comprehensive radio documentary series to tell the story
of native America as seen through Native American eyes. The
first program in this 13-part series opens with a look at Native
American oral traditions. Subsequent programs in January cover
a range of topics, including American and Caribbean Indian views
on the Columbus Quincentenary and the current struggles over
fishing, hunting and water rights throughout American tribal lands.
Actress Tantoo Cardinal, featured in Academy Award-winning "Dances
with Wolves," hosts this series, which will expand on traditional
views of Native Americans. Lesser-known tribes will be featured,
as well as the broad range of social, cultural and economic acti-
vities related to the Native nations of the Americas.
