"We will continue to reach out to both proponents and opponents of the
Great Whale project to develop a better understanding of the project and
NYPA's contract with Hydro-Quebec.
In that vein, I will be meeting soon, at his request, with Grand Chief
Matthew Coon-Come of the Grand Council of the Crees (of Quebec) to discuss
the Crees' concerns about the Great Whale project. We will announce the
details as soon as they are available."
I realize this is way back in August and may be old news to you all, but I
didn't join the net until after that so I may have missed this if it was
posted then. My question is: did this meeting ever take place and does
anyone know the outcome of it?
I'd be interested in any information about the meeting. Thanks much.

Note from Gary Trujillo, NativeNet facilitator:
Speaking of James Bay, did anyone happen to catch William F. Buckley's
"Firing Line" program this week? I saw it last night, just by chance.
They interviewed Cree Grand Chief Matthew Coon-Come and an opponent
from - I think it was Hydro Quebec. Transcripts are available. I'll
post more details later if possible. Also, I expect to be putting
some material in the LISTSERV archives soon concerning the James Bay
situation.
Here's a brief (and possibly incomplete) list of what is in the archive
now. Use the instructions I sent out earlier today to retrieve articles.
If you want everything, you can send a message to LISTSERV@TAMVM1.BITNET
containing the (left-justified) text:
// job echo=no
database search dd=rules
//rules dd *
select * in native-l where subject contains 'james bay'
print all
/*
Articles prior to this are not presently available for automatic LISTSERV
retrieval, but do exist on the APC network and in my own archives.
