As a former Tribal Chairman, I am well aware of the budgetary constraints
under which many Native American non-profit programs operate, so I can give you
the names of a lot of worthwhile programs which you might help. However, if you
are thinking of an "educational" charity, the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation
in North Dakota has a Tribal radio station "KMHA" that is non-profit and
provides educational programming for the million acre reservation. The station
is constantly struggling to keep afloat financially. They provide a much needed
service to the reservation residents, most of whom were flooded out of their
homelands by the Garrison Dam. The Fort Berthold Community College, also a
non-profit educational organization, is in dire need of funding. Calvin
Grinnell (701) 627-3333 is the contact for the radio station, and Lynn
Dockter-Pinnick is the contact for the Community College.
