[ I am moving this discussion to the Columbus Quincentenary mailing list,
which is really its proper venue, following this article. Please send
all further articles on this subject to "nn.1492@gnosys.svle.ma.us."

Anyone interested in this topic should get access to an excellent
publication entitled "Rethinking Columbus: Teaching about the 500th
anniversary of Columbus's arrival in America." It is a special issue
of the quarterly "Rethinking Schools" published by Rethinking Schools
Inc., 1001 E. Keefe Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53212, (414)964-9646.

This special issue is especially useful to teacher who would like to
introduce a novel curriculum in their classes. The articles are written
by or about prominent Native American figures in the hemisphere such as
N. Scott Momaday, Rigoberta Menchu, LaDonna Harris, Black Elk, and others.
