FAS/FAE research information requested

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) along with Fetal Alcohol Effects (FAE)
have been fairly recently recognized as the result of women
drinking alcohol while pregnant. FAS and FAE incidence among
Native Americans is very much higher than in the non-Indian
population. This correlates very well with the incidence of
alcoholism among Native populations, which is also very high. I am
Judy Gobert, a Blackfeet Indian, from Browning, Montana. I am also
a recovering alcoholic. Alcoholism has devastated my family and I
believe I have several FAS/FAE nieces and nephews in my extended
family. I'm a graduate student in Microbiology at the University
of Montana. I have written several papers on alcoholism and FAS
for classes here. I have both a personal and professional interest
in this subject. In order to obtain current information about
either of these topics, I have had ^^^^^^^ to contact tribal
alcohol and drug programs. The U of M library has limited
information about current FAS/FAE research among Native Americans.
I would like to ask if anyone out there might know of what is
currently being done in the research arena, especially FAS/FAE
research?
Thank you very much!
Judy Gobert
