Help us Break the Cycle of 500 Years of Genocide
The Veterans Peace Action Teams (VPAT) was formed in early 1987 by
Brian Wilson and other veterans opposed to the U.S. backed "contra" war
in Nicaragua. The concept of veterans "waging peace," boldly but
nonviolently, has been central to all our work. We believe in "sharing
the risks" with the victims, standing alongside them in their struggle
for self-determination.
In June 1990, VPAT organized the Veterans Peace Convoy to Big Mountain
delivering over 25 tons of food as well as clothing and other supplies to
the Navajo and Hopi Traditional people who are resisting forced relocation
from their ancestral homelands(Public Law 93-531, 1974). The U.S.
government's efforts to force Native American people from their homes
is nothing less than a continuation of 500 years of genocide.
VPAT has coordinated other food runs over the past two years and is
currently organizing the "Spring Food Run" for April 3 thru 5, 1992.
