To be truthful, not many I know are especially perturbed by the
use of Indian emblems/mascots in most sporting events. There are
far more important things to be concerned about that do not
garner the kind of "TV mentality" publicity/protests that seem
to have a lot more to do with what's "in" or "sensationalist"
than real issues that affect the way our people are going to
live.

For instance, not one person seemed to have anything to say about a
very serious issue I posted here a couple of weeks ago - the
legalization of European American government at all levels to levy
property taxes on neighboring Reservations, and the consequent
threat of expropriation for inability/refusal to pay such
unlawful tribute, regardless of what the European American
Supreme Court has recently decided.

This threatens to terminate Indian nations in this land forever
if it proceeds.

I will say that I received a note from Ellen Kemper that she
regards the assessment I made here as correct.

[ Ellen Kemper is an attorney-at-law, who works on American Indian rights
cases. She lives in New Mexico. Her address is "ekemper@igc.org"

There should be more important tomahawks waving than those of
Atlanta fans!
