Yuwitaya Lakota is the newsletter of the Lakota Sovereignty Organizing
Committee (Bear Butte Council, Box 5686, Rapid City, SD 57709/ phone
# 605-341-6492). I have just received their Vol 1 (2), Spring Equinox,
1992. The following articles are featured: Prophecies of the Black Hills
(by David Seals); Elders Jailed (by Lower Brule, SD);LAkota Film Commission;
Indian boy convicted as an adult; Networking Information; The Camp Crier
by Bernard "Bunk" Peoples; Looking at Fences (by Judy Merritt). In the
second page it is printed: "Dakota, Lakota,Nakota Nations Unification
Accord. It reads: "Preamble: We the duly elected leaders of the soreign
indepedented Indian Nations, being aware of our close kinship and
recognizing the benefits to be derived from uniting in common cause, do
hereby affirm and establish a Unification Accord for Peace, Alliance,
Sovereignty. Further to exercise our fundamental and inalienable right
to determine our own destiny and to govern our own affairs. Further to
follow our original instructions to strengthen our Oyate, to cooperate with
one another, to live on earth in harmony and peace with all peoples and
creatures".
