DANN SISTERS' CALL PRESS CONFERENCE, WILL ANNOUNCE NEXT MOVE

A Press Conference is scheduled for Thursday March 26, 1992 at
11am pacific standard time at the Dann Ranch in Crescent Valley,
Nevada. Carrie and Mary Dann, two Western Shoshone sisters, and
Raymond Yowell, Chief of the Western Shoshone National Council
will make the announcement that will take the continuing battle
over Western Shoshone Treaty Rights out of the jurisdiction of
the U.S. Government. The Western Shoshone Nation and the Danns
will follow the press conference with an action, protected under
new terms made in the announcement.

Negotiations between the Western Shoshone Nation and the United
States government, following a seventeen year court battle
between the Dann sisters and the Bureau of Land Management(BLM),
have failed. The BLM is prepared to round up the Danns livestock
as soon as they are released onto Western Shoshone lands over
which the BLM claim to have jurisdiction.

The Dann Defense Project is preparing for peaceful resistance
should the BLM attempt to confiscate the herd. The Western
Shoshone and their supporters are on the alert to travel
immediately to the Dann ranch to engage in, and support non-
violent actions in defense of the land and the livelihood of its
people.

Valley, Nevada. Take Interstate 80, (between Battle Mountain and
Reno) to exit 261 Crescent Valley/Beowawe. Travel south on State

entering the town of Crescent Valley turn left immediately after
the cattle guard onto dirt road. Follow this country road pass
the Dry Hills on your left and through open range for 12 miles.
At the T intersection and stop sign make a left to toward the
ranch one and a quarter mile further. The ranch is accessible by
helicopter, there is a landing strip for light aircraft in the
town of Crescent Valley.
