Well, Rooney's not a reporter. His opinions were voiced in his role
as a newspaper columnist, which is essentially an opinion piece by a
commentator. They weren't made within his "60 Minutes" TV duties,
which in any case, are not supposed to be those of an unbiased "reporter"
like Mike Wallace, who conducts the news segments. And Wallace has been
guilty of irresponsible journalism himself more than once, as documented
by a number of investigations over the years, without fear of dismissal,
because he's been scrupulously "politically correct" in his choice of
targets.
