NATIVE SELF-GOVERNMENT
In all likelihood, Canada's aboriginal peoples will win the right
to inherent self-government in the current round of constitutional
negotiations. The federal government wants the aboriginal community
to define a single model of self-government, but Canada's native
peoples may require a governing system that will adapt to the needs
of different communities across the country.
What are some suggested models for self-government ?
Can different forms of self-government co-exist ?
Why are Canada's aboriginal peoples a "distinct society" ?
