PRESS RELEASE
5 April 1992
The Aboriginal Tent Embassy has taken the Human Rights Abuses
grievances to the representatives of the International world, and
is calling upon the International Olympics Committee in
Switzerland to refuse Australia's bid for the Olympics 2000.
The manner in which the Federal Governmant has prioritised the
$150 million dollars to address the Commission into Black Deaths
in Custody list of Recommendations, and the callous, cynical greed
and political in-fighting of State and Federal Governmants over
funding is a disgrace, and must signal to the ovaerall population
in this country, the real level of immaturity, the lack of wisdom,
statesmanship, moral fibre, plain guts, and lack of vision that
pervades the highedt echelons of governmanet in this country.
The fine sounding, brave words of "Republic", and "The Clever
Country", and "One Nation" appears to be doomed to remain just
words only. In the "Reconciliation" package, and now the
Commissions Recommendation Funding and the subsequent rows, the
lowest possible denominator has already been reached. How much
lower can it go?
