'92 Dartmouth Pow-wow

This year the 140-member student organization Native Americans at Dartmouth
will celebrate its 20th anniversary with a two-day pow-wow to be held Friday,
May 8th and Saturday, May 9th, 1992. Both day's events will be held at the
Bema, an outdoor amphitheater located on the Dartmouth College campus in
Hanover, New Hampshire. (In case of rain, the alternate location will be
Thompson Arena, also located on campus.)

Host Drums for the 20th Annual Dartmouth Pow-wow will be the Heylushka
Singers of St. Paul, Minnesota led by Preston Thompson (Winnebago) and the
Wakeby Lake Singers of Mashpee, Massachusetts led by Earl Mills, Jr
(Wampanoag).

Head Man Dancer will be Marvin Burnette, an Oglala Sioux from Nashua, New
Hampshire. Muriel Lewis, a member of the Onondaga Nation from Nedrow, New
York will serve as Head Woman Dancer.

Dance competitions will be held in four different categories: Men's and
Women's Traditional, Men's Fancy and Grass Dance, and Women's Fancy Shawl and
Jingle Dress.

FRIDAY, MAY 8th.

5:30 PM Grand Entry, social dancing, exhibition dancing
6 PM Community dinner.
7 PM More social and exhibition dancing
8 PM Closing

SATURDAY, MAY 9th

12 NOON Grand Entry
12:30-6 PM Social dancing, dance competition, honorings,
exhibition dancing, Native arts & crafts sales
6 PM Community Dinner
7 PM Final dance competitions, more social dancing,
awards presentation
8 PM Closing
