This is to announce that the annual Stanford U. PowWow is this coming
weekend, Friday May 8 thru Sunday May 10. Everyone welcome. Camping.
Kiowa Gourd Dancers performing in the mornings. Grand Entry around 1 pm
and again in the evening. Last year some wonderful Haida dancers came to
visit and performed for us! This year I'm out of touch, but the Stanford
PowWow is always wonderful. Located on the intramural soccer field next
to the Stanford Stadium. The University is located about half way between
Interstate Highway 280 and Highway 101 (also known as Bayshore) in the City of
Palo Alto. Palo Alto is sort of half way between San Jose and San Francisco.
>From Highway 101 the easiest way is to take the Embarcadero Road exit WEST,
driving SLOWLY (the speedlimit is strictly enforced at 25 mph) about 2 miles
to the El Camino which will be obvious because of a spanish-style shopping
center on the right, an old high school on the left, and lots of traffic.
Directly across El Camino is the Stanford Stadium. Resist the urge to turn
left and go toward the TeePees. Instead, proceed straight ahead until you
come to an entrance just the other side of the Stadium. There will undoubtedly
be policemen or someone official looking to assist you in deciding where to
park. If you plan on camping, be sure to inform them of this before you turn
in so they can direct you accordingly.

And of course, there is no alcohol, loud transistor radios, drugs, loose dogs,
etc. If you are here to purchase crafts, cash is infinitely preferred except
for the large vendors (of which there are only a few).

Hope some of you will be able to make it.
