June LeGrand ... passing

I was shocked to hear the other day that one of the San Francisco Bay Area's
strongest leaders in the area of Quincentennial activities, particularly
in the South Bay, has passed away recently. In addition to chair-ing many
committees for various indigenous causes, June has treked all over the
world on our behalf for various meetings and conferences. She also had
a radio program on KKUP (public radio) one night per week with Native
American music, issues, announcements, etc., and she was a superlative
story teller. She was loved for her endless devotion to the Indian Community,
both locally and elsewhere, and her efforts toward strengthening our culture
to overcome white stereotypes, keeping political garbage in its proper
perspective, and removing stumbling blocks that got in the way of progress.
We will miss her terribly.

From a personal standpoint, I'm having trouble finding out exactly what
happened and would greatly appreciate any information anyone on the Net may
have.

Thank you.
