Greetings. I am planning to attend the annual Mesquakie pow wow in August for
the first time. I was wondering if there are any people out there who know a
a lot about this event (what NOT to do...), and/or any advice on times to be
there and such. I've been told be a prof friend of mine that Saturday and
Sunday are very exciting days. If there is anyone INVOLVED in the ceremony I'd
love to hear from you. Getting advice on someone's religion from someone who
doesn't know what it's really about is probably only gonna give me
misconceptions, but anyway... may they continue their traditions till the grass
grows no longer.
FYI, the Woodland Singers drum and dance group came up here the other day.
They played one show at a little coffee shop called The Garden and were
planning on playing a second later in the day. I worked till late in the
afternoon and missed their first show, and then to my dismay discovered they
had to cancel the second because they had to get their children back before too
late in the evening. I saw a show (pow wow) they had in Ames in April and was
just mesmerized. The soul of the drum ...
