The drawings are bawdy, explicitly erotic, and great fun (as are the stories).
Dr. Schwarz (a medical doctor) writes that he collected them from his
patients in the course of his community practice. Most of the stories
are Ojibway, one is Naskapi, another Mohawk, and some are ones Schwarz
wrote from his own experiences.
How did people react to the publication of these stories? Native? Non-
native? Anthropologists? Others? And the illustrations...? (I know
the Winnipeg police found them offensive, but did others...?)
Thank you, (and if anyone has a copy to sell...? Let me know, please!)
