The major Montreal newspapers (Gazette, La Presse, Le Devoir) reported
this weekend that the Quebec prosecutor, who has the right to appeal
innocent verdicts, decided not to challenge the innocent verdict
against 34 Mohawk warriors charged with various serious crimes in
the blockade of the bridge at Kahnesawake 18 months ago.
Stated reason: there wasn't a chance of success.
Unstated question: why were the charges brought in the first place?
