Second Annual National Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Conference

This is just a general announcement to let everyone know about the upcoming
second annual Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Conference, that will be held in
Albuquerque, New Mexico from September 27-30. It is sponsored by the
National Organization on Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (NOFAS, which is a nonprofit
organization committed to rasining public awareness about Fetal Alcohol
Syndrome and Fetal Alcohol Effects. It is the only national organization
devoted exclusively to disseminating information about FAS/FAE and to
implementing innovative and culturally sensitive approaches to prevention,
intervention and advocacy. This conference is devoted to FAS issues and
targets the Native American community.

Workshops, presentations and discussions will address such topics as new
directions for prevention nd education; pre-natial screening; treatment,
clinical assessment; the educational aspects of FAS; and the legal
ramifications surrounding FAS/FAE. Banquet keynote speakers will include
Sam English, a nationally renowned Chippewa artist and NOFAS board member,
and Rodney A. Grant, actor, from the award-winning motion picture Dances
With Wolves.

There will also be a powwow on Monday, September 28 at the Albuquerque
Convention Center.
