Dear Friends,
As the Sakaw_Aski Aboriginal Elders Council, we are asking for
your financial or material assistance so that we can continue in
our struggle against clear)cutting in northwestern Saskatchewan.
With winter coming on, our people need to build cabins at the
blockade site in order to maintain a strong presence.
The funds your organization could share would help us in
conserving our traditional way of life and protecting Mother
Earth.
Should you choose to assist us, we have included information
regarding our bank account of the Protectors of Mother Earth. If
you request it, we will also send a receipt even though we do not
have a tax)deductible number.
We are also asking you to fax or send this letter to other
supportive organizations who may want to assist us as well. Such
support is very important in our struggle to protect the beauty
of Mother Earth, the traditional Ways of First Nations Peoples
and our future generations.
Thank you very much for considering this urgent request for help.
Should the Creator have given you resources to share, the bank
account is : ROYAL BANK OF CANADA, BOX 728, MEADOW LAKE,
SASKATCHEWAN, S0M 1V0, ACCOUNT NUMBER 6095442, TRANSFER I.D.
NUMBER 04738, BRANCH 003.
Yours in Friendship,
The Sakaw)Aski Aboriginal Elders Council.
Note: There has been an increase in police surveillance at the
blockade sit over the last two weeks, as well as two officers of
the special investigations unit visiting the offices of various
organizations which have supported the Protectors of Mother
Earth. We suspect that such action means that they are planning a
raid of the camp very soon. The company wants the logs that are
behind the blockade before the snow flies, which could be very
soon as our weather has been unusually cold. So I will keep you
posted. At this point, there is not much we can do except get
ready. Keep us all in your prayers, especially the Elders and
children at the Blockade.
