That posting contained entire paragraphs which were one line long, probably
due to the file containing it being in the internal format of the word-
processing program used to create it. I will get in touch with the original
poster ("tbpeace@igc.org") to provide assistance on understanding the correct
procedure to use in future to upload and post articles.
While I was at it, I made a few minor spelling and punctuation corrections.

On May 12 a semi trailer of gambling equipment worth 3 million dollars was
seized by the FBI on the Fort McDowell Reservation, Arizona. The State refused
to negotiate with the Apaches. The clan mothers saw this semi trailer and
blocked them in. Barricades were erected but the agents were allowed to leave.
12 hours later the government agreed to negotiate with the tribal council.
That negotiation never happened.
Oka 1990. 28 people have been aquited from Kanasetake for defending thier
homeland. More go to trail Sept 3 from Kahnawake. We fear they will not be
aquitted. Just as in the Leonard Peltier case we believe they will find or
create a scapegoat. Money is needed for legal expenses. Please send donations

Canada is seeking an agreement with its Native people for inclusion in the
Constitution, their inherent right to self government. Canada has not yet
spoken with the traditional governments. In this agreement to negotiate there
must be "no land claims, and done in peace, with good law and order". This will
prevent us from seeking legal means to enforce our land rights and prevent us
from defending ourselves. The Mohawks have refused to sign this.
In Fort Belknap, Montana our sacred sites are being mined for gold, and as a
result of cyanide leaching of the gold our land and people are being
poisioned.
The sacred Black hills are being strip mined yet they belong to us by treaty.
Billions of dollars of Mother Earth are being removed yearly.
Shoshoni land is being used for a nucular test site.
Big Mountain and Black Mesa is being detroyed by mining and the people
relocated.
These are but a few of the problems today. Now let me tell you about the League.

a speech by John Dacajewiah Hill
The League of Indigenous Soveregn Nations extends our warmest feelings of
solidaity and unity to all indigenous nations of traditional Indian people
throughout the continent.
On Oct 12, 1992 we have called for a demonstration in front of the United
Nations Bldg in New York City from 12:00 to 5:00PM at Dag Hammerjold Plaza to
demand recognition by the United Nations Security Council that we are
sovereign nations. As such we demand a representative elected by the League to
have a voice in the General Assembly, to document any and all atrocities
against Native people, and to have a vote to resolve any disputes between the
other powers in the Western Hemisphere and our traditional native governments.
We have been forced to accept the status of wards of the federal governments,
with a form of controled self government called tribal councils or band
council of chiefs. These councils have weakened our soveregnty and make us
subjects of jurisdictional dictatorships.
As a people we must define sovereignty for ourselves and begin living the
realities of our sovereignty, which was clearly defined before the arrival of
European peoples upon Indian land. What we suggest is nothing more than the
continuation and development of the ideals of our ancestors.
If the various nations that have evolved out of the destabilisation of the
Soviet Union are afforded dignity and respect as nations, if the United States
can recognize and validate those nations' calls for voting representation in
the UN General Assembly, then why can't the US and the members of the UN
Security Council recognize and respect the same call by Indigenous peoples of
sovereign nations within the western territories?
To protect our indigenous sovereign nations against the continual interest of
corporations, which oppress us daily, and to protect our native rights in
general, it is extremly important that the other nations of the world, and
their ambassadors to the UN General Assembly, hear our voice.
